Santiago sightseeing - a ride rest.

Today (FRI) we had the day off riding ,staying at the Hotel Mexico within walking distance of the walled city we headed down to breakfast at the Sportsbar next door. The weather had changed to overcast with a slight drizzle. Ideal for a sightseeing day, much cooler than yesterday.the bikes were parked safe in an underground park

We saw several people completing their walk - the Camino. The walk starts in the French Pyrenees and ends in Santiago

Walked around the huge Cathedral square ...

A big of restoration on the one bell tower. We had a spot of lunch in a tapas bar with coffee and Santiago tart .. A bit like our Bakewell but without the jam ...

afterward just ambled around the small narrow streets that twist around the old town.

Looking in the shop windows we saw all sorts of stuff for sale, I particularly liked these ladies..kind of authentic ?

Saw some amazing sea food including El Pulpo .. Octopus,

Other sights include,

A dog who looks like he has walked the Camino too!!

And more Tapas. For the evening meal we decided to try different varieties of tapas including some of the fish ones much to Lindsay's disgust who can't stand fish it seems LOL. We sat at the bar next to a young woman from Australia originally from Ireland who had just completed the pilgrim walk all the way from the French Pyranees. It was the second year she had completed it and found it easier the second time she said the big mistake the first time is too fast a pace in the early days cost you dear e.g blisters and exhaustion later. Amazing feat. She recommended me the house red, and some amazing deep fried prawn tapas and the Camembert and almond with Cranberry. I also tried the cured ham , sweet pineapple arroz (rice) and a few others. I think Lindsay stuck to his Carne tapas selection. Most enjoyable ...and ... not a Rennie in sight. I think this Tapas suits me.

Saturday we are riding in a big loop out to Fisterre... Worlds End then around Galicia with Santiago at the centre, returning to the hotel later for our final night before moving on to Portugal.
